WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Jim Justice released a statement highlighting huge West Virginia wins following both Senate and House passage of the appropriations minibus to fund the federal government. Wins span the Department of Defense; Financial Services and General Government; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and related Agencies; Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and related Agencies; and State, Foreign Operations, and related Programs bills:

“Despite the disfunction in Washington, we were able to secure some massive wins for West Virginia in this government funding go-around which is great. On the other hand, this two-week CR remedy for DHS funding puts vital agencies like FEMA, TSA, CISA, and Coast Guard at risk. At the end of the day, we’ve done some really great things for West Virginia, but shutting down DHS so Democrats can have a media talking point is completely unacceptable,” said Senator Jim Justice.

BACKGROUND:

The appropriations package includes projects championed by Senator Justice that strengthen West Virginia’s education and research institutions, prepare the workforce of the future, support healthcare systems, grow small businesses, improve infrastructure, and enhance community well-being.
